The best ways to get dry eyes relief

Imagine this, you’re taking a break from working or studying just to rest your eyes for a minute, you close them and when you reopen them they’re burning and feeling itchy; this is what is known as having dry eyes. Dry eyes cause more than just a feeling of irritation they can affect your vision, however, your aching eyes can be relieved with treatments and a few easy acts.

  • Use your tears

Every time you blink, your natural tears bathe and calm your eyes. Your eyes become dry if you don't create enough tears or if they evaporate too rapidly. If dry eye isn't addressed, it might become infected and harm the surface of your eye.

  • Artificial tears

Artificial tears are eye drops that imitate your natural tears. Doctors frequently recommend them initially. At the drugstore, you can choose from a variety of over-the-counter brands. You may have to try a few before finding one that works for you.

Preservatives can be added to the drops. Choose one without artificial tears if you use artificial tears four or more times each day. Preservatives can cause eye irritation.

  • Change your diet

Flax oil, which contains omega-3 fatty acids, may benefit some persons with dry eyes. It can improve the function of the glands that produce the oily portion of tears. Tears contain oil that prevents them from evaporating too quickly.

  • Eye Massage

This is how you do it:

Roll your index finger in a circular motion with your eyes closed to softly massage your lids. Alternatively, use a cotton swab to roll down your upper lid toward the lashes and the lid's edge. Move your finger or swab up toward your lash line to massage the lower lids. Do it 5 to 10 times a day.

  • Warm your eyelids

The oil glands at the corners of your eyes might become irritated and clogged with hardened oil. Heat can dissolve it, allowing it to flow freely once more. For 30 seconds to 4 minutes, apply a warm wet washcloth to the affected region. When you have symptoms, do this twice a day, and once a day to prevent the problem from returning.

  • Control your screen time

Using a computer, smartphone, or tablet might cause your eyes to become dry. This is because while your eyes are concentrated on a screen, you blink less. The 20/20/20 rule should be followed. Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break from your digital gadget and look at anything 20 feet away. If you get dry eye symptoms when using your devices, use artificial tears.
